Al Lopez
Executive Chef

Born and raised in a small farming town, Hollister, California. He was surrounded by many fresh and local produce throughout his childhood. During high school, Al got his first job working as a grocery clerk in a local grocer. It was then his fascination with food began. As he realized his interest in food he was lead into butchery and mastered the art as he became a certified Journeyman.

After 15 years in the industry, he wanted to take on another approach to his passion for food and obtain more of a rounded culinary knowledge. While attending a culinary program at Mission College, a Master Chef saw the potential in Al and taught him all the finer aspects of Fine Dining. He went through extensive training through his culinary program and had a lot of guidance from his mentor. He lead Al into joining the San Francisco chapter of the ACF.

Once a certified ACF Chef, Al joined the Hilton Corporation and has been in the family for 13 years. Beginning as a Lead Cook and working his way to becoming the Executive Chef of the Doubletree Hotel San Jose, overseeing all food operations within the hotel.

Given the opportunity to work as Executive Chef for Spencer's for Steaks and Chops, he's seen a lot of potential in the concept as he's watched it grow. He has aspirations of advancing himself within the HRG.

On days not seen on the line, you'll find Al on the golf course or fishing at the lake.
